Industrial automation / technical sales

Kenji
Toledo

An industrial engineer who sells machines to the people who run them.

Five years closing hardware-and-software solutions with manufacturers and operators across Mexico — custom systems, process automation, and the equipment that runs them. Licensed industrial engineer, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.

01 / the thesis

A vision system is never sold on specs.

It's sold on scrap. On the defect that escaped to the customer. On rework hours, on throughput, and on the cost of a person standing at the end of a line checking parts by eye.

I've spent my career on both sides of that sentence. Five years selling technical solutions directly to manufacturers and operators — and my working days inside a plant's supply chain, where I watch what those numbers actually cost the business. The Green Belt isn't a line on a certificate: it's the reason I can build the payback model in the customer's own units instead of quoting a camera.

02 / how I work

Four things I bring to a territory.

01

Full-cycle selling, no handoffs

Self-generated pipeline, on-site discovery, scoping, quoting, close. I've never had marketing leads, an assigned territory, or an SDR passing me a name — everything I've closed, I found first.

02

Hardware and software as one sale

Specify, quote, source, install, commission. The customer is buying an outcome on their line, not a box and a license — which is exactly how a vision system gets bought.

03

I can hold the engineering conversation

Five years building software that runs in production — Python, SQL, PHP, APIs, integrations. When the controls or quality engineer starts asking real questions, I answer them instead of routing them.

04

Then I translate it upstairs

The engineer's requirement becomes the plant manager's business case: yield, rework, inspection labor, payback period. Two different conversations, and the deal needs both.

03 / track record

What I've actually sold and delivered.

Multi-branch retail / POS and inventory platform

Sold on shrinkage, not on features

Designed and deployed a point-of-sale and inventory system on a 31-table relational schema, with concurrent stock control across branches and four permission tiers. Won by quantifying inventory shrinkage and cashier error — the same defect-cost argument that carries an automated inspection sale.

Foreign trade / SIGIV compliance platform

Cut ~80% of manual tariff lookup time

Won and delivered a customs-compliance platform integrating the SIICEX-CAAAREM tariff catalog, so import teams stop hand-searching fractions and regulations before every shipment.

E-commerce / two live pharmacy operations

Turned one-off projects into recurring accounts

Security hardening, refactoring and production support on platforms already carrying real transactions. The close was the beginning of the relationship, not the end of it.

Straight about the gap: I haven't carried a quota inside the automation industry. Everything above I sold without a brand behind me, without an assigned territory, and without an applications engineering team. Those are the three things I'm looking for — and the reason I think the number gets interesting.

04 / territory brief — Ciudad Juárez

Share of maquila production, Ciudad Juárez

Juárez shed roughly 57,500 maquila jobs between 2023 and 2025. The plants that stayed are the ones automating — moving off labor-intensive assembly toward higher-value work that has to be inspected, traced and verified before it crosses the bridge.

That shift is the whole sales conversation. A plant that just lost a shift of manual inspectors and picked up an e-mobility program has a quality problem and a headcount problem at the same time. I already speak to both sides of it, in Spanish, on their floor.
